The Active Gauge (アクティブゲージ, Akutibugeeji?), shortened to AG, is a gameplay mechanic exclusive to Tales of the Rays: Recollection. It governs characters' action capabilities during battle.
Function[]
The Active Gauge is a percent-based resource, with the maximum value of 200%, used to determine character's performance in battle. It replaces Chain Capacity in the Recollection Mode. When a character uses an arte, their AG increases, while performing other actions like running and defensive maneuvers decreases it. The most effective way to decrease AG is standing still (with AG being at 100% at most) and perfoming perfect Sidesteps and Backsteps.
Depending on the AG's value different effects activate, the effects being most similar to the Rush Gauge in Tales of Rebirth:
Value | Effect |
---|---|
0% | Knockback time x1.2, damage taken x0.8, received HP recovery x1.2 |
1%–49% | No changes |
50%–100% | Damage dealt x1.05, damage taken x1.1, received HP recovery x0.9 |
101%–199% | Damage dealt x1.10, damage taken x1.3, received HP recovery x0.8, Cannot knockback enemies, cannot defend |
200% | Character is inflicted with Stun, rendering them defenseless |
