Albert Mueller (アルバート・ミュラー Arubaato Myuraa?) is a relatively minor antagonist in Tales of the Tempest.
History[]
In the beginning, Albert was born into a family of knights. When he was still a child, they were crushed by the king of Areulla. He and his parents fled to Adelhabith, but his parents died soon after due to the harsh, frigid environment. Traumatized by his loss and the feeling of powerlessness as he watched it unfold, Albert swore that he would return to Janna and avenge his family by any means necessary. Amidst this tragedy, he befriended Arria Ekberg, who admired his determination to rise above his circumstances.
By the events of the story, Albert is the captain of the Black Knights, and his duty involves protecting the capital city of Janna. However, he is still not satisfied and dreams of one day becoming king. During the story, he fights the protagonists on numerous occasions, following them across the country in the hopes of collecting their Pensient before the Church or the King can. He also has the Archduke of Janna murdered in order to give himself sole command over Janna's knights.
At first, nobody quite knows how he is able to track them with such accuracy, but eventually it becomes clear that he was being given information by Arria; the reason Arria joined the group was to spy on them for Albert. However, when he shares his plan to kill her companions in the desert port of Laurus, she finally realizes how ruthless he truly is, and warns them of his attack. This gives them time to prepare for battle, and they defeat Albert when he comes for them. He laments his failure to take over the country or to prevent Arria from turning against him, and he dies saying her name.
Some time after his death, Arria praises Caius for coming to terms with his past despite suffering great loss, and admits that Albert was unable to do so.
Appearance and Personality[]
Albert has long blonde hair and blue-gray eyes. He wears a set of black armor, including a breastplate, sleeves, gloves, shin guards and shoes, and an outfit of white.
Due to the disgrace his family had suffered, Albert is a blindly ambitious man who seeks to gain more and more power over anything in his reach. This stems from his desire to never feel powerless again after the trauma he suffered in his youth. He seems to be close to Arria, but only so long as he can keep her under his control. He shows no compassion for anyone else, believing it to be a sign of weakness.
Fighting Style[]
Albert fights using a long sword, and fights similar to Tilkis Barone, even using the same base artes. However, his variant of the artes are more wild and unrefined.
Trivia[]
- All of Albert's artes are named after Greek mythological figures.
