Asta (アスタ Asuta?) is the main character of the Black Clover series, who makes a cameo appearance in Tales of the Rays.
History[]
Asta grew up with his fellow orphan Yuno. Together, the two began dreaming of becoming the Wizard King for the betterment of the common people and their home, considering each other rivals in the competition. When the time came for them to receive their grimoires, Yuno received one with four leaves, insinuating good luck. Due to lacking any magic capabilities, Asta was not given one traditionally. Just when it looked like his dream would be crushed, a grimoire with five leaves appeared, which gave him a sword that could counter any and all magic. However, since he had no magic affinity, no one would recruit him into the Magic Knights. After seeing his tenacity to not give up, despite the odds stacked against him, Yami Sukehiro eventually gave Asta a chance and recruited him into the Black Bulls.
Tales of the Rays[]
In Tales of the Rays, Yuno arrives to the Black Bull's hideout to give Asta a letter from Hage when they have been summoned from their home dimension by Wiseman alongside Charlotte Roselei.
Appearance and Personality[]
Asta is a young man of short stature with an exceptionally muscular build. He has green eyes and messy, ash blond hair with bangs in front of his forehead and a single strand protruding upwards from the center of his head. He keeps his hair together with a black headband, which has the gold-colored Black Bull insignia and has a red-colored four-pointed star with three stitches on the back of it. He has numerous scars all over his body from his strenuous physical training and the number of battles he has fought.
Asta generally is cheerful and hyperactive. He tends to shout to express his thoughts and goals, much to the annoyance of some of those around him, and often in spite of other people's opinions. His strong tenacity interests Yami enough to recruit him into his ranks, and his determination also leads him to possess an indomitable will to never give up, no matter the circumstances, and tries to convince others to do the same. Asta counteracts the cruel opinions and insults he frequently receives by walking it off. But when his friends become the targets, he will not hesitate to confront the bullies and defend his friends.

In Tales of the Rays, Asta primarily wields his Demon-Slayer Sword. In certain artes, he will pull out the Demon-Dweller Sword to strike with it before it disappears. Occasionally, the Demon-Dweller Sword can even shoot projectiles in battle. Most of his artes are original, derived from the swords themselves and their capabilities. He retains his special moves from the Black Clover series: Bull Thrust and Black Meteorite.

- Asta's Anti Magic affinity is similar to the Anti-Magic spell in the Tales series, used to cure any magical ailment.
