Astral Energy (星霊力 Seireiryoku?, "Star Spirit Power") is a term in Tales of Arise. It is similar to the recurring concept of mana in the franchise.

Astral energy is the lifeforce in all matter. It comes in six elements: Fire, Wind, Water, Earth, Light, and Darkness. The first four exist in both worlds, but Light only exists on Dahna and Darkness exists only on Rena. Renans are able to use astral energy to cast astral artes; only a minority of Dahnas named Mages are able to do the same and were persecuted for that ability. If matter is stripped of astral energy, it undergoes the Hollowing, irrevocably turning into a silver-like void that cannot retain its form.
The Crown Contest is the Renan rite to choose their next Sovereign and involves the Five Lords gathering Dahnan astral energy into their master cores, with the lord able to gather the most energy winning the contest. To achieve these goals, the Renans enslave and abuse the Dahnans, forcing them into arduous labor to harvest not only the astral energy from the land but also within the Dahnans themselves.
