Blazing Tempest as it appears in Tales of Vesperia.

Blazing Tempest (火炎裂空 / 火炎烈空 Kaenrekkuu?, "Flame Split Sky") is an arte in the Tales series that is an upgrade attack of Tempest Strike, with a Fire-elemental attribute.

Arte Description and History

Like in Tempest Strike, the user spins in the air with the enemy, now surrounded in flames. As it is an elemental variation of another arte in the PlayStation 2 version of Tales of Symphonia, there are special requirements in order to use it. Lloyd Irving first needs to have used Tempest 200 times, and then he must be dealing Fire-elemental damage, through the use of the "Garnet" accessory, the Sylva Seal: Fire arte, a Fire-elemental weapon, or the "Red Quartz" item. When these requirements are met, Blazing Tempest will replace Tempest.

After the release of Tales of Innocence, the arte simply became a normal arte with an elemental attribute, which is also reflected in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. The release of Dawn of the New World introduced the arte with a slightly different kanji modification, showing "retsu" (?) instead of the original "retsu" (?). This kanji difference does not change the meaning or pronunciation of the arte's name. In Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2, this alternative name reappeared for the Warrior class, while Ruca Milda's version continued to use the old name.
