Character Cards (キャラ札 Kyara-fuda?) is a minigame from Tales of Berseria based on Hanafuda cards, and particularly the card game Koi-Koi. It can be played by finding a member of the Character Card family, each of whom is in a different town.
Rules[]
The goal of this game is to claim matching pairs of cards to collect scoring sets. Each turn begins by choosing one card from the player's hand and playing it on the field. If a card with a matching title is currently on the field, the player may take both cards into their scoring pile. If there is no match, their card remains on the field. Next, the player draws a card from the deck, places it on the field, and resolves as above. This action ends the turn.
Each card belongs to a scoring set indicated by an icon on the lower right of the card. Scoring sets are formed once the player collects a certain number of cards belonging to that set. The number of currently claimed cards of each set is displayed on the screen's right.
Once a scoring set is completed, the player may end the round and collect points for the obtained sets. The player may also opt to continue to the round, but the round cannot be ended and points cannot be collected until another set is completed. Continuing allows a player to reach for higher scores but risks opponents completing a set first and opting to end the round in their favor.
The winner is the player with the most points at the end of three rounds. The winner will be rewarded with Tales Coins, with higher scores earning more coins.
