History[]
Tales of Symphonia[]
Clara is the wife of Governor-General Dorr and the mother of their only daughter Kilia. Clara was transformed into a monster by the Desian Grand Cardinal Magnius a few years prior to the beginning of Tales of Symphonia, due to the resistance of Dorr's father in leading the citizens of Palmacosta against the Desians. Since then, Dorr had been aspiring to cure his wife so badly that he eventually decided to cooperate with the Desians following the death of his father.
Clara first appears as a monster when Lloyd Irving's group confronts Dorr for his sins of collaborating with the Desians. After a series of events, Dorr is slain by the girl who both he and the party had believed to be his daughter Kilia, who is then revealed to be a minion of Pronyma masquerading as Dorr's daughter in order to keep watch over him. The group manages to kill Kilia, but she releases Clara from the basement prison before taking her last breath. Clara then rushes out of the dungeon and unconsciously wanders all over the continent.
Later in the story, Clara could be encountered during several occasions, frequently leading to Lloyd's group having to save her from a group of adventurers who vow to kill the ferocious monster that she appears to be. She can be found later during the attack on Luin, holding the key to the Tower of Mana's entrance. In a sidequest, it is possible for Raine Sage to cure Clara with one of her newly acquired healing spells in Izoold. Clara thanks Lloyd and his friends for rescuing her, and she slowly returns to Palmacosta afterward.
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World[]
In the sequel, Clara is seen as the new Governor-General of Palmacosta when Emil Castagnier and Marta Lualdi visit the port city for the first time since the time of the Blood Purge at the start of the story. Emil and and Marta decides to pay a visit to the Governor-General in order to get a boat. Clara greets them and says that she forgives Marta for her father and the Vanguard's trouble during the Blood Purge. Marta introduces Clara to Emil, but Clara hardly recognizes him, even though she knew him and his parents well. The Governor-General says that she can not help them with the ocean current state, however they are told to look for a fisherman named Thomas at the Dynasty Ruins, since he already seems to know why are many storm in the ocean lately. After the two leave the public building, Zelos Wilder arrives since he is going to have a reunion with Clara to discuss Zelos leading a search party to look for Thomas at the Dynasty Ruins.
