Dragon Slayer (archery)

Dragon Slayer (屠龍 / 屠竜, Toryuu^?, "Slaying Dragon") is an arcane arte usually associated with Chester Burklight from Tales of Phantasia, but it is not present in his original appearance.

Arte Description and History

When the arte is used, the archer shoots several energy arrows at once, launched at different angles to create multiple beams of light that arc through the air, surrounding the enemy and piercing it through various angles without failure. In the Radiant Mythology series, the numbers of hits change depending on the size and weight of the enemy.

In Chester's version, he originally fires a single arrow flying straight forward that also emits a wad of other projectiles alongside that converge on any nearby enemies. In Narikiri Dungeon X, he fires a single magenta orb that once upon contacting a target, to split off into four magenta energy arrows that fly around erratically to home into other nearby targets. In midair however, the four homing arrows are fired on their own at the start.

In Narikiri Dungeon X and Tales of Link, the kanji for "Dragon" (龍^?) is changed to a different kanji for "Dragon" (竜^?).

In both language files of Tales of Symphonia, there are unused voice clips of this arte used by Colette Brunel. However, she does not have access to this arte in any final version of the game.
