Ernat Perusha (エルナト・ペルシャ Erunato Perusha?), is a supporting character in Tales of the Rays: Recollection. She is a young girl who, in spite of her youthful appearance, is the commanding officer of the Thanatos Unit (タナトス隊 Tanatosu Tai?), an elite group within the Reaper Knights.
History[]
Originally, Ernat was Balor's mirrite, Lugh. After the events of the Rainbow Night, she was found and taken in by Haze Cesario Ideafeldt. Shortly thereafter, Lugh fell into a deep sleep for decades, during which Haze watched over her. When she awoke, she no longer had any memories, and ended up taking on the name Ernat Perusha. From then on, Haze looked after her, keeping her close by her side. Eventually, Ernat was appointed captain of the Thanatos Unit.
Tales of the Rays: Recollection[]
For much of the beginning of the story, Ernat is simply doing her duty as captain and assisting Haze. However, while the party is investigating a surge in illusionare activity in Asgard, she hears Balor's voice and regains her memories. While the group is absently discussing the idea of going to the past to eradicate the illusionares, Ernat realizes that this plan is possible, but would lead to the people and new life she had come to treasure ceasing to exist.
Unable to accept the idea of losing these things, Ernat decides she will go to the past instead, before anyone else can. Once there, she plans to destroy the illusionares without changing the future by gathering the energy to do it and then waiting until she gets to the future to destroy them. She enlists Agrad Aldebran's help to evacuate the area she plans to destroy and to prevent the party from following her.
Appearance and Personality[]

Ernat has chin-length, wavy, layered, pale yellow hair that flares out toward the bottom. One long strand of it sticks nearly straight up at the top of her head. Her irises have a gradient to them, running magenta at the top to periwinkle at the bottom. She has small round eyebrows and large round eyes.
She wears an over-sized jacket that reaches nearly to her knees, kept unfastened. The main body of her jacket is black with gold trim, and the sleeves are blue on top with white on the bottom with black cuffs at the end. On both sleeves there is a gold circle with an emblem of a bird underneath it, also in gold. On the back of the jacket is a more complex version of the same geometric sun symbol present on Haze's coat. The bottom of her jacket appears to be elastic and has two long drawstrings hanging down. As a whole her jacket greatly resembles the coat Haze wears. Underneath her jacket is a short red dress that transitions to black right before the collar. At the collar is a large blue ribbon worn underneath her jacket. Her shoes are gray and black heelless high-heeled boots, bearing the simplified version of the sun symbol on the front in gold.
Ernat is well-mannered and dedicated to her job. She is prone to pulling long hours doing paperwork, and other characters express concern about her overworking herself. Ernat also often tries to do things with as little help as possible, likely contributing to her overworking herself. She makes a big show of being strict, but she sometimes covers for Kodama Atwood's antics when she agrees with his motives. Like Kodama, she feels she owes Haze a life debt and thus admires her and wants to do anything she can to serve her. She has something of a rivalry with Kodama about their respective feelings toward Haze, and gets jealous when she feels he is trying to monopolize Haze's attention.
Fighting Style[]
As a playable character, Ernat wields a large sheathed sword in her left hand, utilizing elemental artes that unleash powerful blasts. Her fighting style revolves around precise timing and strategic chain actions. For her elemental artes, she creates blasts that damage enemies unless it is the first action in a chain. Nearly all of Ernat's artes are named after Greek terms. As a boss fight, Ernat fights much the same way, although with her sword unsheathed, revealing it to have several large prongs. She also has additional artes, including a new mirrage arte.
Trivia[]
- Ernat's name is derived from Elnath, which is the official name for Beta Tauri, the second brightest star of the Taurus constellation. Elnath also translates to "the bull's horns" in Arabic, reflecting the star's position within the constellation.
- The weapon Ernat is depicted with in her official artwork is called "Martos Mundi" in the game.
