Sword Rain (散沙雨 Chirisazame?, "Scattering Sandstorm"), also localized as Swarm and Staff Rain, is the base arte variant of the Sword Rain: Alpha arte.

Arte Description and History[]

Sword Rain is an excellent arte to form combos with, especially when linked in a combo with its stronger variants. When this arte is activated, the user stabs the target with many rapid thrusts. It is the downgraded form of Sword Rain: Alpha and was not conceived until Tales of Eternia, in which it is one of the first artes that can be obtained. Although the arte does not appear in most games with Sword Rain: Alpha, it has become a primary requirement for its more powerful form in the games in which it does appear.

Sword Rain is Adecor's burst arte in Tales of Vesperia, with its simplicity signifying the user's relative weakness. This fact is made more apparent in the PlayStation 3 and Definitive Edition versions, as it is also Flynn Scifo's base arte, and he can perform it much faster.

In Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, it is the first of two artes that Lloyd Irving contributes to a Unison Attack. In Tales of Xillia and Tales of Xillia 2, Leia Rolando's version is localized as "Staff Rain" due to Leia's use of a staff instead of a sword. Despite the fact that the Golden Mage Knight - Duelist in Tales of Xillia also uses a staff, his version was localized as the traditional "Sword Rain". In Tales of the Rays, this arte is Water-elemental while Saleh's version is Non-elemental and alters into Senketsusazame when used at the sixth or later action in a chain.
