Flamberge (フラムベルク Furamuberuku?, "Flambelk") is a supporting character in Tales of Phantasia and Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon.

History[]

In Tales of Phantasia, Flamberge appears as the guardian of the Tower of Flames, a remnant of the Republic of Odin. On defeat, she yields the Flamberge sword used to form the Eternal Sword. In her Narikiri Dungeon appearance, she is the guardian spirit of Muspelheim, the land of flames, and gives Dio and Mel the "Priest" card upon being bested in battle.

Appearance and Personality[]

Flamberge Sprite (ToP SFC)

Sprite in Tales of Phantasia (SFC).

In the Super Famicom version of the game, Flamberge is a woman with light golden hair and wears an attire of the same color.

In later versions, Flamberge takes the appearance of a tan-skinned woman with red hair and eyes, and ram horns. She wears an orange top held up by a gold necklace. Her lower body attire consists of an orange loincloth, and brown boots that go up the thighs, with orange shoes, decorated with a gold ring. As Narikiri Dungeon X gives further details to sprites, Flamberge is given brown gauntlets and bat wings.

Fighting Style[]

Flamberge Sprite (ToP-ND)

Sprite in Narikiri Dungeon.

In all her appearances, Flamberge uses a sword in battle. In the Super Famicom version of the game, Flamberge levitates off the ground as a ring of fire surrounds her. In later versions, she instead fights with her feet on the ground. In the PlayStation release and later ports, she wields a large sword reverse-gripped with one hand.

In Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X, she uses the Flamme Fang as her weapon.
