Gnome as it appears in Tales of Phantasia (iOS).
Gnome (ノーム Noomu?), along with Summon: Earth (降霊召符・地 Koureishoufu: Chi?) and Gnome II (ノームⅡ Noomu II?), are artes that summon the Spirit of Earth, Gnome.
Arte Description and History

Gnome as it appears in Tales of Destiny (PSX).
Gnome as it appears in Tales of Xillia.
As the arte summoning the Spirit of Earth, all of the artes are earth-related. Due to Gnome's highly variable nature, the Gnome arte changes rather significantly through the series. Gnome first appears in Tales of Phantasia under the command of Claus F. Lester. When summoned, Gnome fires rockets at his enemies, dealing Earth-elemental damage to all enemies who are hit by them.
As a consumable item in Tales of Destiny, Gnome appears as a bunch of small creatures who trample the enemy. The Gnome arte in Tales of Eternia and Earth Tapper from Tales of Destiny 2 also feature small creatures, though in the former, they merely gather around the foes but in the latter they also stampede over the enemy. In addition to these effects, Eternia has Gnome burst through the ground while the latter has stalactites fall from the ceiling.
In Tales of Symphonia, Summon: Earth has Gnome body-slamming the ground, kicking up rocks all around him and raising all party members' defense. Summon: Earth also appears in Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3 and is the only arte whose Summon Spirit uses its Symphonian incarnation, barring the Symphonia-exclusive Corrine. Gnome is also the name of an Earth-elemental spear in Tales of the Abyss and a skill in Tales of Zestiria that enables a chance to reduce Earth-elemental damage.
In Tales of the Rays, Claus summons Gnome who conjures four planetary orbs in midair around the foe that fall down and jump towards the target enemy.
