Gravity Well (グラビティ / グラヴィティ Gurabiti / Guraviti?, "Gravity") is an advanced spell of varying elements, most commonly associated with the Earth element. A gravity well or gravitational well is a conceptual model of the gravitational field surrounding a body in space; the more massive the body, the deeper and more extensive the gravity well associated with it.
Arte Description and History
When the spell is used, it creates a medium-sized black dome with lightning traveling the surface and small stalagmites on the dome's perimeter. All creatures within the dome are obscured from view, and any enemies trapped within are crushed with intense gravitational pressure. Gravity Well first appeared in Tales of Symphonia. While the spell is in effect, all enemies within its area are immobilized, regardless of their status, providing one of the only means of subduing an enemy that has entered Over Limit mode.
In Tales of the Abyss, Gravity Well is an FOF Change that replaces Thunder Blade if it is cast within a fully-charged Earth or Dark FOF Circle. In this game, it provides a secondary debuff that temporarily reduces the movement speed of all enemies damaged by the spell. In Tales of Hearts, this spell is a combination arte that is activated by summoning either Beryl Benito or Kunzite into battle using the Connect Command panel and controlling the opposite character to use both Ground Dasher and Negative Gate at the same time.
