The Magic Knight (魔法剣士 Mahoukenshi?) is a recurring job class in the Tales series.

Job Characteristics

Magic Knights are skilled with both magic and swordsmanship, wielding a sword and shield in addition to moderately powerful elemental magic and healing. Magic Knights usually can wear both heavy and light armor. Standard artes usually associated with the Magic Knight class include Burn Strike, Healing Wind, and Guardian Field.

Appearances

Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X

Mell's Spirit Sword class of costumes combines fast swordplay and elemental magic into one package. These costumes are in contrast to the Knight costumes. The costumes of this family are:

Fencer (フェンサー?)
Magic Fencer (マジックフェンサー?)
Royal Fencer (ロイヤルフェンサー?)

The Chain Blader (チェインブレイダー?) is an offshoot that trades in magic for blindingly fast attacks and the ability to chain many artes together.

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology

According to the non-playable character Nanaly Fletcher, there are many Magic Knights in the Doplund region, but the style itself originates from Ailily. In order to get the invitation to become a Magic Knight, the Protagonist first needs to be a Swordsman of at least level 40, and then complete the Trial Quest where they have to battle Kratos Aurion alone. By defeating Kratos, the player has to talk to him after finishing the quest to get the invitation. After that, 1,000 Grade is needed to be allowed to become a Magic Knight.

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2

The Magic Knight job reappears in Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2, and its artes are almost unchanged save for exchanging some of its weak supportive spells for stronger attacks. The job can be unlocked by having the Warrior, Swordsman, and Mage job classes at level 30. After that, 1,000 Grade points are needed to be allowed to become a Magic Knight.

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3

The Magic Knight job is almost unchanged from its Radiant Mythology 2, except it regains some more potent area-based healing spells. The job can be unlocked by having the Swordsman, Mage, and Priest job classes at level 30.
