The Order of Lorelei (ローレライの順序 Rorerai no Junjo?) is the central religious organization of Auldrant in Tales of the Abyss. It is the neutral force which publicly advocates for peace between the kingdom of Kimlasca and Malkuth Empire. Led by the Fon Master and Grand Maestros, the Order possesses its own military wing, the Oracle Knights, and capital at Daath. The purpose of the Order is to guide humanity to the unprecedented prosperity that was believed to be foretold in the Score. According to Teodoro Grants, the Order of Lorelei itself is simply the presence of Yulia City in the Outer Lands.

History

More than 2,000 years prior to the events of the story, a Seventh Fonist named Yulia Jue made a pact with the aggregate sentience of the Seventh Fonon, Lorelei. Yulia was able to predict the future, and she wrote the Score, which comprised of seven fonstones that foretold Auldrant's future, containing both destruction and prosperity. The Order of Lorelei was founded by Francis Daath, one of Yulia's disciples who wished to spread Yulia's prophecies as the words of a goddess.

Oracle Skit (ToF2)

Following the crisis of the Float War and the raising of the Outer Lands above the Qliphoth, Yulia's disciple, Freyr Albert, became the first Fon Master of the organization, marrying Yulia and founding the house of Fende, while also leading the Order with her guidance. The Order eventually came to represent the primary religion in Auldrant, with Fon Master Ion as its leader. Over the course of history, the Score became an integral part of human life, and without the Score to dictate the people, they become afraid and lost. Because of this, everyone is generally reliant on the Score.

Trivia

  • The symbol of the Order of Lorelei is reminiscent of a tuning fork.
