The Paladin (聖騎士 Seikishi?, "Holy Knight") is a recurring job class in the Tales series.

Job Characteristics[]

The Paladin is an incredibly powerful swordsman that uses both physical attacking and healing abilities in battle. In most games, the Paladin appears as an upgraded form of the Great Swordman job. Due to the fact the job fights with broadswords, the Paladin is rather poor at making swift attacks, but they are excellent damage dealers. The Paladin can be valuable in critical moments, as it can use healing artes for support. The Paladin equips broadswords and heavy armor in battle. Standard artes usually associated with the Paladin job include Rending Wave, First Aid, and Barrier.

Appearances[]

Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X[]

Mel has a series of Knight costumes that culminate in the Paladin costume, designed around powerful sword attacks complemented with self-supportive abilities. These costumes act in contrast to the magic-wielding Spirit Sword line.

The costumes of this family are:

Knight (騎士 Kishi?)
Armored Knight (甲騎士 Koukishi?)
Paladin (聖騎士 Seikishi?)

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2[]

The Paladin makes its formal appearance in Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 as an elite job. In order to obtain this job, the player must have a Level 30 Priest, Warrior, and Great Swordman.

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3[]

The Paladin makes a reappearance in Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3 as an elite job. Unlike the previous installment, the player must have a Level 30 Priest and Great Swordman. It also loses the ability to use healing and support artes in favor of Light-elemental magic and formation artes.

The class Knight (騎士?) is assigned to newly introduced to the subseries Emil Castagnier, Flynn Scifo, and Asbel Lhant, with Chloe Valens being reassigned it from previous title's Swordsman. In this title, "Knight" refers to more of a role in plot of the character in their game of origin rather than being focused on defensive fighting style as generally applied to it in video games.
