The Primordial Beasts (源獣 Genjuu?) are a divine race in Tales of Luminaria. As the source of mana, they are an important cornerstone for the world.

History[]

Primordial Beasts are nine beasts who have massive bodies and catastrophic power. They once roamed the land before being petrified, becoming known as "Primordial Fossils" (源獣の骸?). Mana flows from their fossilized bodies, hence them becoming known as the "Primordial Beasts" as the primordial source of mana. Because this mana then enters the earth and increases natural resources, large cities have been built around their bounty. The people of the Jerle Federation worship them as gods, while the Gildllan Empire uses its Reactor technology to efficiently extract their mana for their technologically advanced civilization. The rulers of Jerle Federation see their actions as heresy, so the Empire seceded, and the two political entities eventually entered into the Anathema War.

Gameplay[]

The Primordial Beasts, except Origin, can be challenged by up to a total of four players in a "Multiplayer Boss Battle". Each Primordial Beast has a time limit before rotating to the next one, and has a different fighting style to set them apart from each other. In the main storyline, Aglaya is fought as the final boss in Charles' first episode. The Primordial Beasts can also appear in the 10x Summons sequence, changing the outcome of the result.

List of Primordial Beasts[]

  • Origin the Creator is a special being who is labeled as the "King" and "Ruler" of the Primordial Beasts. It is the most human-like of the Beasts, though it has avian wings. It is particularly important in Primordial Beast worship, with Temenos Archonis, the central city of the this sect, being built around it.
  • Aglaya the Panthera Lord, who is known for its ferocious, valiant presence, has four eyes and four ears, with four sharp claws on each limb. Its mana creates a vast, bountiful forest in which the Ludirome Forestville was built. In battle, Aglaya focuses on Impact-elemental attacks.
  • Haleu the Avian Lord possesses wings that can cover the sky. It created the mountain range beginning with Mt. Zevron and supports Dolganore Stonehaven with its mana. In battle, Haleu focuses on Burn-elemental attacks.
  • Sankara the Aquarian Lord appears in the sand and has a very long dorsal fin and tail. It created the desert in which the "Sankara Glass" stone can be found, leading to the creation of Walsbald.
  • Tarulhan the Ram Lord has a large amount of hair covering its body and two huge horns. Its mana created the wetlands in which Verdant Izamille was built. In battle, Tarulhan focuses on Aerial-elemental attacks.
  • Lazui the Canis Lord has long fangs and stares at the sky. Its mana made easily accessible metal ores in the Gildlla Wilderness, eventually leading to the creation of Highgarden. A piece of Lazui was installed into the Lunne Pilier when Lunne was originally being controlled by the empire, with its mana being used to power the city until it was destroyed during the Third Lunne Battle. In battle, Lazui focuses on Shock-elemental attacks.
  • Gemslay the Serpentus Lord is long enough such that its full length is double that of all the others. Its lands are a mountain range cloaked in black fog, protecting the Zaian Darkfall. In battle, Gemslay focuses on Poison-elemental attacks.
  • Bozak the Rhinoceros Lord is a beast with a sharped horn and thick bones outside its back. Its mana created a frigid domain with bountiful resources that the Frosthrone Ahsbam attempted to claim. According to Edouard Rouquier, the fact that Bozak's horn can pierce any armor, combined with the fact that they do not eat meat, has inspired the saying "The striking horn does not nourish" (穿つ角は食むためにあらず?), a proverb on power abuse. In battle, Bozak focuses on Freeze-elemental attacks.
  • Watamusubi the Cryptodira Lord has a gigantic shell and a pair of fins, creating a bountiful sea region. The Onokoro Seacove takes advantage of this mana. In battle, Watamusubi focuses on Weak-elemental attacks.
