Protection as it appears in Tales of the Rays.

Protection (プロテクション, Purotekushon^?) is a recurring collaboration support arte used by Ki and Rena Lanford.

Arte Description and History

Ki surrounds an ally with a barrier. In Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon, this barrier increases that character's defense, while in Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3, the barrier damages enemies on contact. Her use of it may be a reference the Protection spell in The Return of Ishtar.

In Tales of the Rays, Rena summons a sphere of rainbow-colored mirrors surrounding the targeted party member that temporarily increases their P.DEF. This arte is derived from the Protection Symbology in the Star Ocean series, where it is localized as Protection, Guard, and Enshelter.
