Raging Mist as it appears in Tales of the Abyss.
Raging Mist (レイジングミスト Reijingumisuto?) is a hybrid Fire- and Water-elemental advanced spell in the Tales series.
Arte Description and History[]
When activated, Raging Mist summons an opaque-white cloud of steam with a large radius around the target, searing all enemies within range with intense, scalding heat. In Tales of Symphonia, Genis Sage learns this "Technical"-branch spell naturally after having learned and mastered Spread and Eruption. Unlike most spells in this game, Raging Mist does not stop enemy movement while it causes damage, despite increasing the hit counter passively. It simply deals multiple hits of Fire-elemental damage, contrary to what the in-game description says. Because of this, the spell cannot be used to create effective combos or interrupt enemy attacks.
In Tales of the Abyss, Jade Curtiss can perform Raging Mist if he casts Infernal Prison while standing within a fully-charged Water or Dark FOF Circle. This version acts as a typical spell that can stagger enemies while dealing damage, at the same time reducing its effect radius significantly. In Tales of Hearts, Raging Mist is a combination arte that is activated by summoning either Kohaku Hearts or Beryl Benito into battle using the Connect Command panel and controlling the opposite character to use both Explode and Ray Needle at the same time. In Tales of Xillia, it is a combination the Sunburst and Diffusional Drive artes and visually appears as Sunburst's fiery sun dropping into Diffusional Drive's pool of water to erupt into scorching mist. In Tales of the Rays, Raging Mist is the master arte to Jade's Flame Burst, replacing that arte when it is used as the fifth or later action in a chain.
