The Renas Alma (レナス=アルマ Renasu Aruma?) is a key item in Tales of Arise. It is the ultimate core, said to have been born of the five existing master cores. Legend tells that it is bestowed upon the winner of the Crown Contest when they become the new Sovereign. But in truth, it is a large accumulation of astral energy meant to be used by the Sovereign and the Maiden in the Spirit Channeling Ceremony.

History[]

Three hundred years ago, the Renas Alma was used in the ceremony meant for the Great Astral Spirit to devour all of Dahna's astral energy. But after the Maiden Naori Imeris caught a glimpse of the scheme, the ceremony went horribly wrong, and the Renas Alma was destroyed as a result. To restore it, the Great Spirit resolved to convert Dahna's astral energy into different elemental master cores, and commanded the Renans from the shadows to mold Dahna into five distinct "Realms" to produce these master cores. Orbus Calaglia housed Fire, Cyslodia contained Light, Elde Menancia had Earth, Mahag Saar got Wind, and Ganath Haros acquired Water, while Rena itself contained the sixth master core, one of Dark astral energy.

Shionne Imeris first mentions the item during the party's search of Almeidrea Kaineris. Dohalim il Qaras explains further that it is a grand item that is assembled with all five master cores. Shionne believes it is the only chance she has to free herself from her thorns.

After the party barely defeats Vholran Igniseri in Del Fharis Castle, a Red Woman appears with the Dark master core. The Red Woman then uses Alphen's powers as the Sovereign and Shionne's as the Maiden to combine it with the other five to form the Renas Alma before disappearing with it.

After traversing through the Forbidden Zone on Lenegis a month later, the party discovers an entire chamber meant to act as substitute for the Maiden, with Vholran attached to it, performing the ceremony. When Vholran wakes up, he attempts to grab the Renas Alma only for another Red Woman to appear, overload the chamber, then take the Renas Alma back to Rena.

When the party arrive on Rena to confront the Great Spirit, the latter devours the Renas Alma to use its astral energy to defend itself. After Shionne confines the Great Spirit within herself, Vholran reappears and causes the Renas Alma to self-destruct to put a stop to Alphen's dreams, killing himself in the process.
