Rommy (ロミー Romii?) is one of the central antagonists in Tales of the Tempest, serving the Church as one of its many priests.
History[]
Rommy works for the Church as a priest-soldier, and it is her job to round up Leymon with her partner Lukius Bridges and take them to the capital city of Janna. However, she abuses this power and uses her position in society to kill innocent people and wreak havoc in whichever way she sees fit. Very early in the story, she kills Rubia Natwick's parents simply for defending the Leymon, Ramrus Qualls, she intended to capture. Rommy later kills Ramrus, spurring a quest of revenge from Caius Qualls.
Some of the time, Rommy works alone without the help of her partner. This usually happens when she wants to cause a death and does not want anybody to know. At first, it seems that she is doing this merely for fun as a result of her sadistic personality, but near the end of the story, her real motives become apparent. She was once attacked by a monster known as a Spot that entered her body and warped her mind. From its presence, she learned of another planet inhabited by Spots, so she joined King Areulla VIII in hopes of one day returning there. After being revealed as a Spot by Lukius on Mount Ayre, the group kills her. In reality, the true Rommy, described as a sweet girl, was dead before the beginning of the story.
Appearance and Personality[]
Rommy is a petit girl with red eyes and hair. She wears a full body attire of white, with a red veil around the waist, a small cape on the shoulders, and pink shoes. During the first part of the story, Rommy is seen wearing a helmet, covering her face. She removes this before the final battle.
Rommy is repeatedly shown to be murderous, sadistic, and manipulative. She frequently mocks her victims as well as their surviving relatives, before proclaiming that she will kill them too. She uses her position in the Church to manipulate others into taking her side or believing that she is a righteous priestess.
In truth, this personality belongs to the Spot that possessed her body, not Rommy herself. Other than a comment by Arria calling her a "cute kid", nothing about the real Rommy's personality is known, but it was drastically different from her current one.
Fighting Style[]
Throughout the story, Rommy fights using a staff, primarily casting fire spells.
Right before the final battle, she is stripped of her human body, reverting to a red Spot Grande, decreasing her arteset.
