The Scholar (学者 Gakusha?) is a recurring costume in the Narikiri Dungeon series of games.
Job Characteristics[]
Scholars are heavily associated with the Inspect Eye arte, used to analyze enemies. To complement this, they also cast elementally appropriate spells and can perform summons. Physically, they tend to be weak, only capable of attacking with their books.
Appearances[]
Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon[]
The Scholar costume is a utility costume whose Kaidoku arte is used to complete a quest.
Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 2[]
In Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 2, the Scholar costumes are a series of costumes that can be converted into with a Lexicon (じしょ Jisho?) root item. Combining an elemental costume with the Lexicon will create the corresponding Scholar-family costume. While the normal attacks of each costume is dependent on the costume's element, each of the elemental costumes also gain access to several spells not necessarily of that element. The male Scholar costume is used to synthesize the costume for Claus F. Lester, while the male and female Inventor costumes are the bases for Keele Zeibel and Milard Rune respectively.
The variations are:
Non-Elemental: Scholar (学者 Gakusha?) Fire: Volcanist (火山学者 Kazan Gakusha?) Wind: Meteorologist (気象学者 Kishou Gakusha?) Water: Oceanologist (海洋学者 Kaiyou Gakusha?) Earth: Geologist (地質学者 Chishitsu Gakusha?) Lightning: Inventor (発明家 Hatsumeika?) Light: Theologist (神学者 Shingakusha?) Dark: Astronomist (天文学者 Tenmon Gakusha?) Elemental: Physicist (物理学者 Butsuri Gakusha?)
Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3[]
The process of costume synthesis is greatly streamlined in Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3, merging all iterations of the Scholar costume into a single unit. Caro Orange begins with her Scholar costume, but the male Scholar costume can be obtained by merging a Mimic costume with the Encyclopedia (ひゃっかじてん Hyakkajiten?) root item.
