Senel Coolidge, Will Raynard, Chloe Valens, and Norma Beatty head towards the entrance and find the mysterious youth and Shirley Fennes as they head into the ruins. Norma suggests putting their hands on the door and it opens up. When Chloe asks how it happened, Norma explains that Eres can be used to open up doors to ruins that are normally closed tight. The rest of the group head in and leave Norma behind while she catches up. As everyone heads inside, Norma realizes that the passage is actually a secret passageway created during the Kingdom of Terises. She goes on to say that she got the information from notes left by her teacher. As the group continues on, a huge quake occurs. Will explains that the Legacy sometimes gets earthquakes, but he never felt any this big. He then spots the pair ahead of them, and the youth begins another fight. Norma notices how tough he is, despite the group outnumbering him four-to-one. Another earthquake occurs and it weakens one of the nearby pillars, forcing the youth to push Shirley out of the way.

While the group checks on Shirley's condition, Norma comes to them with bad news: the recent quake blocked the entrance and they are now trapped inside. The youth bursts from the column and flies away, but as the group is about to give chase, Shirley wakes up. After Shirley thanks the group for what they have done, Will advises heading forward since the way back is blocked. Senel suggests resting for a bit after seeing Shirley getting tired. Chloe and Norma start talking about the rumors they heard about the Merines, which forces Senel to stop the conversation. Will suggests putting Shirley under his protection once they return to Werites Beacon, which starts an argument with Senel. Senel settles on leaving the Legacy, which Will agrees would be the wisest course for now. The group is then greeted by a strange little creature carrying a harp.

The critter introduces himself as Pippo of the Oresoren. He tells the group about a village nearby, although it is now empty. Will is skeptical at first, but the group eventually decides to takes Pippo's offer to lead them there. Once the group arrives at the village, they run into Pippo's brother Quppo. He explains that Quppo is the top martial artist among the Oresoren. After looking into Senel and Chloe's eyes, he immediately recognizes them as true warriors. Norma says that she has never knew the Oresoren existed, and Will states that he has not even heard so much as a rumor despite living here for ten years. The brothers explain that they have known about them forever and that they have been to the city numerous times. People were even handing them food just for standing there, the group came to the conclusion that the humans thought they were pets.

Will begins explaining that these kinds of events happen quite often on the Legacy, and goes on to talk about the Kingdom of Terises, how eres were brought to humans fifty years prior, and the Cataclysm that is said to have wiped it out. Senel asks Shirley to come with him. After heading to a quiet spot, Senel hands Shirley her brooch that she dropped in the Crystal Forest. After regrouping with the others, Pippo and Quppo tell of a way to the surface up ahead and offers to escort them there. As they progress forward, another earthquake shakes the passage and blocks the way forward. Quppo figures that they can get through if they dig through and he asks Senel and Will to help him out. When Norma tries to use crystal eres, Chloe drags her away from the wreckage.

As the men are working, Norma asks Chloe why she came aboard the Legacy and Chloe answers that she is looking for someone. Norma explains that her reason for coming to the Legacy is searching for the Everlight, a jewel that can grant the wish of anyone who finds it. Norma asks Shirley to look at her brooch, and starts examining it. She asks Shirley for the brooch, but Shirley grabs it back from her saying that it is extremely important to her and it once saved her life. Norma tries to buy it off Shirley but it got interrupted by Senel and Will's arrival. After looking at Senel and Shirley, Norma notices that the two do not look alike. After Shirley tells her that she has an older sister, Senel gets rather personal.

As the group gets close to the exit, another quake occurs. The brothers explain that a Long Long Demon that lives in the passageway is what forced the Oresoren out of their old home. Will wonders if this monster is the cause of the recent quakes and the monster himself appears. The group makes a run for it and find themselves cornered. Norma and Will try opening the door, but their eres alone could not make it open. When Shirley touched the door, it opens up and Norma calls the others to fall back. The Long Long Demon busts through the door and thrashes uncontrollably, which makes Will think it is weak to sunlight. Senel suggests taking it out or it will continue hounding them.

After defeating it, Shirley checks on Senel but he assures her that he is fine. The brothers do a victory dance, which gets almost everyone's attention. The brothers then give a present to Senel and Shirley: Gemini Shells. They explain that the shells have a significant meaning when two people close to each other hold them. As long as they hold them, they can then tell how each other is feeling and they are used as engagement symbols by the Oresoren. Senel asks where the path leads and they explain that it will take them back to town after a while. Will still insists on keeping an eye on Shirley since Senel does not know where they are right now, not to mention all the people trying to come after Shirley. The brothers say their goodbyes and hope to see them again at their village. Chloe notices the bad weather and it looks like it might winner. Will begins examining the monster, and Chloe explains to Norma that Will is a natural historian. Chloe then notices that Senel and Shirley are missing.

Senel and Shirley head through the mountain trail and decide to head back and figure out what to do next. Along the way, they encounter several soldiers as well as the Terrors, the ones responsible for the attack on Shirley's village 3 years ago. Even knowing Shirley's weakness, Senel took her out to sea to evade their pursuers. Senel tries to fight them despite the odds, but ends up defeated. After that, the Terror's commander, Vaclav Bolud, appears. Even after Shirley tries to defend Senel, it only ends up getting him thrown off the cliff and a golden light appears. Vaclav thinks it is only lightning and takes the captured Shirley with him, ordering his troops to move to the next phase of their plan. At the bottom of the path, Senel floats down in a golden ball and awakens, noticing that he is somehow alive. A girl, Harriet Campbell, finds Senel nearby and asks him to come back to town with her. He finds the shell Pippo gave him and starts worrying about Shirley.

The Secret Passage (秘密の地下道 Himitsu no Chikadou?, "Secret Underpass") is a dungeon in Tales of Legendia, located on the northeast side of the Legacy.

Geography

The first part of the dungeon features a long hallway leading to its deeper levels. There are also the remains of an old Oresoren village, where a "Long Long Demon" forced the Oresoren out of their home. Past the village is an old railway system that penetrates the passageway. The rest of the passage leads outside to a mountain pathway.

History

Senel Coolidge, Will Raynard, Chloe Valens, and Norma Beatty head toward the entrance and find the mysterious youth and Shirley Fennes as they venture into the ruins. Norma suggests putting their hands on the door, and it opens up. When Chloe asks how it happened, Norma explains that Eres can be used to open doors to ruins that are normally closed tight. The rest of the group makes their way inside and leaves Norma behind while she catches up. There, Norma realizes that the passage is actually a secret passageway created during the Kingdom of Terises, which she learned about in the notes of her former teacher. As the group continues on, a huge quake occurs. Will explains that the Legacy sometimes gets earthquakes, but he never felt any this big. He then spots the pair ahead of them, and the youth initiates another fight. Norma notices how tough he is despite the group outnumbering him four-to-one. Another earthquake then occurs, and it weakens one of the nearby pillars, forcing the youth to push Shirley out of the way.

While the group checks on Shirley's condition, Norma comes to them with bad news: the recent quake blocked the entrance and they are now trapped inside. The youth bursts from the column and flies away, but as the group is about to give chase, Shirley wakens. After Shirley thanks the group for what they have done, Will advises heading forward since the way back is blocked. Senel suggests resting for a bit after seeing Shirley getting tired. Chloe and Norma start talking about the rumors they heard about the Merines, which forces Senel to stop the conversation. Will suggests putting Shirley under his protection once they return to Werites Beacon, which initiates an argument with Senel. Senel settles on leaving the Legacy, which Will agrees would be the wisest course for now. The group is then greeted by a strange little creature carrying a harp.

The critter introduces himself as Pippo of the Oresoren. He tells the group about a village nearby, though it is now empty. Will is skeptical at first, but the group eventually decides to takes Pippo's offer to lead them there. Once the group arrives at the village, they run into Pippo's brother, Quppo. The brothers explain that they have known about them forever, and that they have been to the city numerous times. People were even handing them food just for standing there, leaving the group to suspect that the people viewed them as pets or wild animals.

As the group progresses forward, another earthquake shakes the passage and blocks the way. Quppo figures that they can get through if they dig through and asks Senel and Will to assist him. Afterward, as the group gets close to the exit, another quake occurs. The brothers explain that a Long Long Demon that lives in the passageway is what forced the Oresoren out of their old home. Will wonders if this monster is the cause of the recent quakes before the beast appears. After defeating it, the brothers bid farewell to the group, and not long afterward, Senel and Shirley quietly sneak away. Along the way, they encounter several soldiers, as well as the Terrors. Senel attempts to fight them but proves unsuccessful. Afterward, Vaclav Bolud appears, and Senel is thrown off the cliff. At the bottom of the path, Senel floats down in a golden ball and wakens, noticing that he is somehow alive. A girl, Harriet Campbell, finds Senel nearby and returns with him to Werites Beacon.
