Arte Description and History
When Shakkouken is executed, the user reaches out toward the enemy and grabs it with their fist, creating a small orb of light in their palm that burns the enemy before blasting it away. In the PlayStation 2 remake of Tales of Destiny, it has the secondary effect to reduce enemy magical defense by 15% for 8 seconds.
The final blast can be canceled into another attack to continue the combo, preventing the knock-back effect. Furthermore, if an enemy is staggered from a distance with any projectile attack, such as Majinken or Souhajin, this arte can be linked to the previous attack, forcing the enemy to teleport instantly into melee-grabbing distance. This can allow combos to continue further. However, no change was made in the Director's Cut version of the game to remove this functionality. If the arte is used with the accessory "Titan Gauntlet" equipped while performing an "Aiming Step", the arte will be replaced with Shishisenkou.
In Tales of Hearts, Shakkouken is a combination arte that is activated by summoning either Kor Meteor or Ines Lorenzen into battle using the Connect Command panel and controlling the opposite character to use both Senkoureppa and Calmar Grip at the same time. Unlike in Tales of Destiny, this arte includes an initial dash that strikes all enemies in the path before finishing with the same grab and blast effect.
