The Priest (僧侶 Souryo?) or Priestess, originally referred to as the Cleric (クレリック Kurerikku?), is a recurring job class in the Tales series.

Job Characteristics[]

Priests lack in physical attack capabilities, but they are most prominent in healing and support artes to support their allies in the heat of battle. Priests in certain games are the only job to typically learn Light-elemental attack spells. Their ability to heal, protect, and resurrect fallen members of the party make them typically invaluable, as they are usually the only efficient way of healing. The Priest job in most games require equipment such as staves and rods. Their armor, like most magic-based jobs, include dresses and robes. Standard artes usually associated with the Priest class include First Aid, Barrier, and Holy Lance.

Appearances[]

Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon[]

In Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon, there are three healing-focused costumes: the Healer (ヒーラー?) and Cleric (クレリック?) costumes available to both Mel and Dio, and the Priestess (プリーステス?) costume available to Mel only.

Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X[]

Mel has a series of Divine Power-type costumes specializing in healing effects that act in contrast to the Bard line of costumes. The costumes of this family are:

Sister (シスター?)
Nurse (ナース?)
Bishop (ビショップ?)

Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 2[]

In Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 2, the Clerics are a series of costumes for both Julio Sven and Caro Orange. To obtain a Cleric requires giving a costume the Scriptures (きょうてん Kyouten?) root item to get the Cleric of the same element. Mint Adenade's and Philia Felice's costumes are based on the Cleric.

The variations are:

Non-Elemental: Cleric (クレリック?)
Fire: Shaman (祈とう師きとうし Kitoushi?)
Wind: Pilgrim (巡礼者じゅんれいしゃ Junreisha?)
Water: Priest (プリースト?)
Priestess (プリーステス?)
(Male only)
(Female only)
Earth: Druid (ドルイド?)
Lightning: Mystic (ミスティック?)
Light: Prophet (預言者よげんしゃ Yogensha?)
Dark: Depraved Monk (破戒僧はかいそう Hakaisou?)
Elemental: Bishop (ビショップ?)

Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3[]

The process of costume synthesis is greatly streamlined in Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3, merging all iterations of the Cleric costume into a single unit consisting of only two gender variants. To obtain the Cleric costumes, both Julio and Caro must combine their respective Mimic costumes with the root Scriptures (きょうてん Kyouten?). Mint and Loni Dunamis both have their costumes based off the Cleric.

Tales of Eternia Online[]

The Divine Craymel Mage (聖晶霊術士 Seishourei Jutsushi?) was one of the starter jobs, specializing in healing and support spells. The female versions were modeled after Meredy.

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology[]

The Priest is one of the starter jobs of Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology, available from the start of the game through character creation. This job is involved in the requirements to unlock the Bishop class.

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2[]

The Priest is again one of the starter jobs available at the start. Unlike the original Radiant Mythology, the Priest job of Radiant Mythology 2 now carries a few strike artes that previously belonged to Reala.

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3[]

The Priest is again one of the starter jobs available at the start. Compared to previous installments, the Priest job loses some variety in attack spells for more support spells.
