Strength Regression (ToZ)

Strength Regression as it appears in Tales of Zestiria.

The Slave (スレイブ Sureibu?) artes are a set of seraphic artes introduced in Tales of Zestiria.

Arte Description and History[]

Guard Decay (ToZ)

Guard Decay as it appears in Tales of Zestiria.

The user conjures several colored spheres that strike the enemy in a spiral and explode in a burst of the same color. These artes inflict non-elemental damage and have a chance of inflicting the Paralysis status ailment, but their main use is to steal the target's buffs. Each arte is capable of stealing a specific stat. They are as follows:

  • Strength Regression (アタックスレイブ Atakkusureibu?, "Attack Slave"), which steals Attack buffs.
  • Guard Decay (ガードスレイブ Gaadosureibu?, "Guard Slave"), which steals Defense buffs.
  • Mindflayer (マインドスレイブ Maindosureibu?, "Mind Slave"), which steals Arte Attack buffs.
  • Soul Syphon (レジストスレイブ Rejisutosureibu?, "Resist Slave"), which steals Arte Defense buffs.
  • Spirit Cage (スピリッツスレイブ Supirittsusureibu?, "Spirits Slave"), which steals Focus buffs.
Mindflayer (ToZ)

Mindflayer as it appears in Tales of Zestiria.

The artes that the playable seraphim learn reflect the elemental cycle that the game establishes, as each seraph can steal the stat associated with the element that their own element is dominant against. For example, Mikleo learns Mindflayer, which steals Arte Attack buffs. His element is Water, which is dominant over Fire, and Fire is associated with the Arte Attack stat.

Soul Syphon (ToZ)

In Tales of the Rays, Dezel gains an altered form of Guard Decay known as Shield Slave (シールドスレイブ Shiirudosureibu?) in Japan. It manifests as large sphere of wind chiral particles surrounded by chains that damages his foe, while temporarily increasing his P.DEF but also stealing all stat changes if the affected foes happen to have them. Shield Slave is the master arte to Dezel's Murder, replacing that arte when it is used while standing still or moving.

Spirit Cage (ToZ)

Spirit Cage as it appears in Tales of Zestiria.

In Tales of Crestoria, Angel-family enemies use Spirit Rush (スピリッツレイブ Supirittsureibu?, "Spirits Rave"), a misspelled version of Spirit Cage in Japanese with a different localization. Depending on the circumstances, there is a chance for the arte to inflict a random effect on the target.
