Souryuu Metsugazan as it appears in Tales of Destiny 2.

Souryuu Metsugazan (蒼龍滅牙斬?, "Pale Dragon Destroy Fang Slash"[1]) is a mystic arte used by Kyle Dunamis in Tales of Destiny 2 and the Paladin class in the Radiant Mythology series of games.

Arte Decription and History

In Tales of Destiny 2, Souryuu Metsugazan is activated by extending from Toryuu Rengekiha. Kyle slashes once, then follows through with a series of thrusts. He then jumps high enough into the sky to have the moon visible in the background before dropping back down to create a glyph that shoots beams of light upward, damaging all enemies within a wide range.

The Radiant Mythology 2 variation of the attack follows similar actions, but rather than a series of thrusts, the Paladin character lifts up their weapon slowly, dealing many hits in the process, before jumping into the air and continuing the attack. The animation of this part of the attack involves sonic ripples, showing that the user is discreetly thrusting into the enemy during the same process of actually lifting the weapon.

While Tales of Destiny 2 was composed entirely of new attacks that did not exist in other games at the time, this was one of several artes that provided a direct link to the previous game in the series, Tales of Eternia. Souryuu Metsugazan is an intended reference and homage to Ryuuko Metsugazan, which features a similar name and attack movements. Both attacks also extend from attacks that also hold a direct relation to each other, with the Tales of Eternia counterpart being Omega Demon Chaos.
