The Special Guard is a variation of the Magic Guard action and the Guardian arte. It is activated by pressing ↓ and the Guard button and summons a green barrier that reduces all damage received by 85% while preventing stagger. It also induces a long recovery period afterward, preventing it from being repeatedly used. Characters in the English localization call out Guardian in reference to Tales of Symphonia.
