The Special Guard is a variation of the Magic Guard action and Guardian arte. It is activated by pressing ↓ and the "Guard" button, summoning a green barrier that reduces all damage received by 85%, while preventing stagger. It also induces a long recovery period afterward, preventing it from being repeatedly used. Characters in the English localization call out "Guardian" in reference to Tales of Symphonia.
