Speed Cast (スピードスペル Supiidosuperu?, "Speed Spell"), also localized as Speed Cast 1, is a recurring skill in the Tales series.
Arte Description and History[]
Speed Cast reduces casting time for spells. In Tales of Symphonia, this is a Technical branch skill that mainly works with novice spells, with the exception of Sheena Fujibayashi where it reduces casting time of her seal artes. In Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World and Tales of VS. there exists a skill called Speed Cast 2 (スピードスペル２ Supiidosuperu 2?, "Speed Spell 2") which further decreases casting time.
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World additionally offers an even higher tier variant called Speed Cast 3 (スピードスペル3 Supiidosuperu 3?, "Speed Spell 3") that further reduces casting time.
In Tales of Xillia 2 Speed Cast 2 and Speed Cast 3 reduces casting time conditionally. Speed Cast 2 reduces casting time by 10% if the spirit arte follows a martial arte, while Speed Cast 3 reduces casting time by 30% if Rowen is at 0 AC. Both of these skills also work on his link partner. As opposed to Tales of Xillia where Speed Cast also applied on his partner, this property is removed in the sequel.
