Spirit Chain (スピリッツチェイン Supirittsuchein?, "Spirits Chain"), SC for short, is a gameplay mechanic from Tales of Zestiria. It has functions similar to Rush Gauge from Tales of Rebirth and governs the usage of artes in battle as well as their overall battle performance.

Spirit Chain is a replacement for the recurring TP system from previous entries in the series. The maximum value of SC is 100 and it cannot be increased nor decreased. SC decreases while executing artes, but automatically recharges while being idle, moving, or guarding. As SC decreases the damage done by a character increases, but it comes at the cost of SC recovery rate decreasing. If SC is high a character enjoys several benefits: received damage is reduced, effect potential is multiplied, and SC recovery rate is increased. If a character attacks the enemy with an arte that it is weak against due to elemental properties, the user's arte consumes less SC as a result. Additionally the Battle Action Chain Blast allows the user to instantly recover 50 SC.
