Splash

Splash as it appears in Tales of the Abyss.

Splash (スプラッシュ, Supurasshu^?) is a Water-elemental spell in the Tales series, often appearing in the intermediate range of damage output.

Arte Description and History

When the spell is used, it causes a series of water streams to fall on enemies within an area of effect. While in Tales of Destiny 2, the streams all drop vertically onto the enemy position, later games modify the spell to have the streams shoot at fixed angles around the specified area, intersecting with other streams. Tales of Vesperia changes the spell effects to involve a single stream of water, released from a vase that is summoned above the enemy after knocking them down with it. In Tales of Destiny 2, this spell can be extended into Crush Gust.

In Tales of the Abyss, if the spell is used within a fully-charged Earth or Dark FOF Circle, it will be converted into Icicle Rain. In Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, Splash is a spell that Genis Sage and Richter Abend can learn. Genis learns the spell in Chapter 4 of the game, while Richter knows the spell at the beginning of the game. In Tales of Xillia, both Milla Maxwell and Rowen J. Ilbert are capable of using this arte; however, Rowen, through his "Arte Tuning" ability, allows the player to steer the direction of the spell, and this is indicated by the analog stick.
