Steinmetz (シュタインメッツ Shutainmettsu?) is a character in Tales of Fandom Vol.2 who plays a major role in Jade's quest, despite not appearing in Tales of the Abyss. A Count from the Malkuth Empire, and the leader of an anti-Emperor faction.
History[]
Since the mother of Prince Franz's illegitimate son was a servant working in his house, he is the guardian of Reese Heavenly, who is said to be the illegitimate son. However, his true aim in starting the illegitimate son incident was to assassinate Emperor Peony, and he figured that if he started a disturbance, Peony's personality would lead her to approach him, who had actively started the disturbance, so after the real illegitimate mother and son died, he stole Prince Franz's sword and personal letter, and made a suitably chosen boy named Reese into the illegitimate son.
Then, the moment the truth is revealed in the audience chamber, he completely changes his attitude. He injects a large amount of Fifth Fonons into Reese, turning him into a bomb, and with the help of some of the old regime faction of the Malkuth army, he carries out the assassination of Peony, but he and his posse are suppressed by Jade's Indignation. Steinmetz believed that Peony, who does not rely on the Score, was a false emperor, and he was trying to take the Score back with his own hands, but the fact that Peony would ascend to the throne as emperor was actually written in the Closed Score, and Peony himself sarcastically called him "an interesting guy who acted without relying on the Score."

- Steinmetz would be the final role for Shinji Nakae, who passed away on June 28, 2007, from hepatocellular carcinoma, the very same day Tales of Fandom Vol.2 was released.
