Sydan Meteor (ゼクス・メテオライト Zekusu Meteoraito?, "Zex Meteoryte") is a supporting character in Tales of Hearts. He is the father of Kardia Meteor and the maternal grandfather of Kor Meteor.
History[]
Seventeen years prior to the beginning of the game, Sydan fought alongside his daughter, Labrodor Akerman, Iola Hearts who was the host for Lithia Spodumene, and prince Tekt Tourmaline against the emperor Zirconia Tourmaline, who was under the influence of Creed Graphite at that time. One day, however, the battle took a turn for the worst when Creed ambushed them on a ship docked near a town. Despite their best efforts, none of them could defeat Creed, who shattered Iola's Spiria to render Lithia immobile. Enraged, the rest of the party cast an arte to hold Creed in place. Lithia, who managed to survive via Iola's unborn child, amplified the arte to give them more time. But before they could even do anything, Incarose dropped in and knocked them all flat. In an attempt to change hosts, Creed turned his attention to Kardia and targeted her unborn child, knocking her into the water. Sydan and Tekt quickly dove in and pulled Kardia out of the water, but they discovered that the deed had been done, and Kardia had lost her emotions. Consumed by grief, Sydan attempted many times to kill the baby and Creed with him. But Kardia, still retaining her love for her child, protected them, whispering that their Spiria would not lose. After she gave birth to a boy named Kor, all Kardia could do to care for her son was to sing to him and caress him with gentle hands.
To prepare him for the journey ahead, Sydan makes the decision to raise the boy in secret. He eventually settles down in Seaville, and instills into Kor his own code of morality for seventeen years until Kor proves strong enough to inherit Sydan's Soma. But then, one day, Sydan left to check on a girl in a neighboring town who had a case of despir. After returning home, Sydan spots Incarose attacking Kor along with Iola's children Hisui and Kohaku. Before Incarose can kill Kor, Sydan jumps in and takes the fatal blow. Enraged, Kor strikes Incarose and stuns her long enough for the group to escape. Back at the house, Kor attempts to perform a Spiria Link with Kohaku, who had her Spiria affected by Incarose, only for the pieces of Kohaku's Spiria to scatter across the world. With his last breath, Sydan tells Kor to protect Kohaku and reunite the pieces while not giving in to anger before dying.
Appearance and Personality[]
Sydan is a tall man with brown hair on top and grey hair on the sides. Sydan promotes the ideas of a knight, being chivalrous and helping others, but sometimes can be confused with giving out the wrong idea, as he prefers to help well-endowed, pretty girls, a behavior that not even parenthood has diminished.
