Dist's surname[]

I'm pretty sure it's written as "Neis" at least once in the game. I think it's some NPC in Keterberg, talking about "Dr. Balfour and Dr. Neis." Which is the official spelling, Gneiss or Neis? -RamenArtist 17:56, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

I don't have the game handy right now, and I don't think I can find videos of random NPC dialogue. I don't remember how it would have been spelled. Someone else has to check for that info, sorry.

- In Keterburg, it is spelt 'Neis', though 'Gneiss' is probably the intended name.

If that's the case, we go by whatever is used in the actual game. Intentions aren't relevant if an official spelling exists. Same deal with Sian instead of Chien, Richea instead of Lithia, Claus instead of Klarth, and the list goes on. Consistency with the localized games is always most important, and if no localized name exists, the official romanization will be used, no matter what it is or how awful it might be (ie. Kohak, Chalcedny). Only after that can intentions be considered, since any names without official spellings are open to interpretation.

After searching around for a bit, apparently there is also a skit that shows the name "Gneiss" used in the localized game. Basically this is yet another case of inconsistency or editing failure within the game. I'm going to default it to "Gneiss" - we've had it as that for so long that it has become embedded into the English community, and I suppose it looks more aesthetically appropriate. Horray for extenuating circumstances.

Did Dist Survive Tower of Rem?[]

I never saw any of these sidequests that involve Dist. But he couldn't have survived after you beat him at the Tower of Rem. Luke flung him into the air after he initiated his own machine's destruction and had to have been caught in the explosion. --ReshiramArc1255 03:35, February 8, 2012 (UTC)

Which is why Jade mentions that Dist has "the tenacity of a cockroach" when Dist survives that and effectively orchestrates the entire Nebilim sidequest. Then he survives a massive laser beam to the face from Nebilim herself. Seeing how it is impossible to get Tear's catalyst weapon until the party reaches the final dungeon, the Nebilim sidequest chronologically occurs well after Dist's "Team Rocket Blasts Off Again~" moment.
Now the order of death of each of the God Generals is highly irrelevant, especially in the location where you added such information, so those edits of yours have already been reverted. I was also forced to fix what you added on another page, since parentheticals are not allowed per this wiki's Manual of Style. Please do not force me to add you to the list of users whose every little contribution must be monitored closely by me to make sure everything is done the way our formatting rules require.
