The following is a list of status effects in Tales of Vesperia. Physical ailments last even after the battle ends and are always harmful. Magical ailments, also known as magical changes, are cleared after battle and can either be beneficial or harmful.

Physical Ailments (状態異常 - Joutai Ijou)

  • prevents the effects of skills
Petrify

  • causes a game over if all party members are afflicted by this or "KO"

    • Semi-Auto and Manual: randomizes the effects of button presses
    • Auto: acts randomly regardless of strategy

  • inflicted by current HP being decreased to 0

  • persists at the end of battle and requires being cured by revival spells or effects
