The Twin Worlds (双世界?) is the name given to the world network in Tales of Arise. It is a universal-like plane comprised of the worlds of Dahna and Rena.
History[]
Originally, Rena and Dahna were supposed to be born as one planet. However, the process failed midway, causing the world to be born as two separate planets: the shared system became known as the "Twin Worlds".
The Twin Worlds' astral energy was split unevenly. Dahna's energy was dispersed and scattered throughout the planet, while Rena's astral energy was concentrated in the core, causing the creation of the sentient Great Astral Spirit. The Great Spirit originally desired to finish the combination of the separated worlds by absorbing both Rena and Dahna's astral energy. However, the more it absorbed, the more its goal changed. It grew afraid of death and became desperate for survival. It ended up twisting the plan to suit its own newfound hunger; to consume all astral energy. After hollowing all of Rena, the Great Spirit turned its sights on Dahna and began making preparations to absorb its energy.
Alphen and his party attempts to deal with the Great Spirit by storing its energy in the Renas Alma, which is capable of suppressing the ability for astral energy to achieve sentience. Its suffusion with Dahna astral energy makes it a tempting target, and the Great Astral Spirit first consumes it for its energy, requiring them to beat it in battle to retrieve in. The resulting ceremony is interrupted by Vholran Igniseri, forcing Shionne Imeris to contain the Great Spirit within herself. After Alphen defeats Vholran, the Renas Alma is destroyed due to Vholran's actions. In response, Alphen hatches a new plan, pleading with the collective will of Dahna within all life on Dahna to save both Shionne and Rena. This plea results in Dahna completely absorbing all of Rena's astral energy, including the Great Spirit itself, and scattering it evenly across all of the planet, fusing it into the New World (新世界?).
As a further result, a new flower starts blooming across the New World. This Rose of Unity (〈合一の薔薇〉 Babensa Roamendeku?), named to symbolize Dahna and Rena becoming one, comes in both light pink and light blue colors.
