The Underground Ruins is a complex in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World that lies beneath the stone dais of Asgard in the world of Aselia.

History[]

The group reaches the ruins in an attempt to understand why the monsters are being attracted to the stone dais. When they reach it, Tenebrae mentions he can sense the Centurion Ventus's core, realizing the abnormalities in Asgard are caused by the dormant Centurion's core. Marta Lualdi states that they can finally hatch a core without Lloyd Irving getting in the way. Colette Brunel is confused with this, and Marta proceeds to explain her the events that occurred at Luin and the Tower of Mana. Colette is visibly shocked to hear this, but she agrees to help the two, regardless of her confusion.

Inside the ruins, Colette remarks that the ruins look very much like the Balacruf Mausoleum she visited two years earlier. Marta theorizes that the two ruins might be connected somehow. After traversing the ruin's numerous traps, the group finally reaches Ventus's altar, finding the core undisturbed. However, a monster stands in the way. Colette mentions that it is the same monster she defeated with Lloyd two years ago. Tenebrae then claims he feels Ventus's presence within the monster and that they will have to subdue it with force. After the battle, Tenebrae theorizes that the monster was revived after it was defeated thanks to Ventus's power. Marta then proceeds to hatch Ventus's core, and Tenebrae remarks that Emil Castagnier should awaken to new powers, as well as that he can add to his power by forming pacts with Wind-elemental monsters.

During the sidequest that explores Richter Abend's story, Emil and Richter return to the ruins while trying to reach the Balacruf Mausoleum. Emil remembers Marta's words that the Underground Ruins and the Mausoleum might be connected somehow, and Richter decides to investigate. Inside the ruins, Richter spots a device. After activating it and a short puzzle, a closed door opens to reveal a permanent warp between the ruins and the Balacruf Mausoleum.
