X-BUSTER as it appears in Tales of the Abyss.
Cross Buster (Ｘバスター / Ｘ・ＢＵＳＴＥＲ Ekkusu Basutaa?, "X-BUSTER"), also localized as X Buster, is a recurring arte originating from KOS-MOS of the Xenosaga series of games.
Arte Description and History[]

X Buster used by Poseidon in Tales of Vesperia.
The user glows while charging energy before unleashing it in a large, forceful blast from their abdomen. It is one of KOS-MOS's signature techniques, used in her cameo in Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3. It has a mystic arte-esque status in that game, as it requires low health to activate, a condition that is mirrored only by other recurring mystic artes. This variant is displayed as "Ｘ・ＢＵＳＴＥＲ". Anise's original use of it in Tales of the Abyss is by equipping the "Artificial Life Form" doll accessory, which references KOS-MOS.
It is divorced from KOS-MOS in Tales of Vesperia, where it is used by various mechanical golems as an energy attack. One enemy, the Goliath, even has a Secret Mission involving attacking it while it is charging this arte, and the PlayStation 3 and Definitive Edition versions introduce two variations, the X Buster - Ki (Ｘバスターカイ?, "X Buster Revision") and the Final X Buster (ファイナルＸバスター?). In Tales of Xillia 2, it becomes a linked arte used by Ludger Will Kresnik and Alvin, in which Alvin provides the energy that Ludger then expels from his abdomen. It is also the Gunman's mystic arte in Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3, which is the only version that does not contain the abdomen shot. Instead, the Gunman forms a magic circle in front of them, through which they fire the arte.
